GOOGLE (AND ME) ARE HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME FINDING VEHICLES.... BOX SAYS RX-4
The distributor cap with part number
1757-24-310
(often cross-referenced with Bosch 03100) is a genuine Mazda OEM part designed specifically for
rotary engines with
points ignition systems manufactured between
1974 and 1979.
According to Atkins Rotary and listings on eBay, this part is compatible with the following vehicles:
Mazda Rotary Models (1974–1979)
- Mazda RX-2: Models produced between 1974 and 1979.
- Mazda RX-3: Models produced between 1974 and 1978, including the SP Coupe.
- Mazda RX-4: Models produced between 1974 and 1978, including Sedan, Wagon, and Hardtop trims.
- Mazda RX-7: Specifically the 1979 model year (GS and S Coupe trims with the 1.1L 12A engine).
- Mazda Rotary Pickup (REPU): Models produced between 1974 and 1979.
- Mazda Cosmo: Rotary-powered models from the mid-1970s.
Compatibility Notes
- Ignition Type: This cap is exclusively for points-style ignition distributors. It will not fit later 1980–1985 rotary models which transitioned to electronic ignition systems.
- Engine Fitment: It is widely cited by specialists like Atkins Rotary as fitting "all rotary engines from 1974–1979".
- Alternative Part Numbers: You may also find this part listed under Bosch number 03100 or Daiichi number DMC-24.
Standard Motor Products MR-56
(also commonly referred to as
MR56) is an ignition distributor cap primarily designed for
Mitsubishi
engines. This part is a direct fit for several Mitsubishi models from
the early to late 1990s, particularly those using the 4-cylinder 1.5L,
1.8L, and 2.4L engines.
Mitsubishi Passenger Vehicles
This distributor cap is widely used across Mitsubishi's compact and mid-sized lineup from the 1990s.
- Mitsubishi Mirage (1993–2002): Fits various trims including the 1.5L and 1.8L 4-cylinder engines.
- Mitsubishi Galant (1994–1998): Compatible with 2.4L 4-cylinder engine models.
- Mitsubishi Expo / Expo LRV (1992–1995): Fits the 1.8L and 2.4L 4-cylinder variants.
- Mitsubishi Eclipse (1996–1999): Specifically for models equipped with the 2.4L SOHC engine (non-turbo).
Dodge and Eagle (Mitsubishi-Based) Models
Because
of the partnership between Chrysler and Mitsubishi during this era,
several "captive import" models also utilize the MR-56 cap.
- Dodge Colt (1993–1994): Fits the 1.5L and 1.8L 4-cylinder engines.
- Dodge Stratus (1995–2000): Compatible with the 2.4L SOHC Mitsubishi engine.

- Chrysler Sebring (1996–2000): Used in coupe models equipped with the 2.4L SOHC engine.
Mazda Pickup Trucks
The
most common Mazda application for this specific cap is the older
B-series trucks, particularly those that shared parts with the Ford
Courier and Mitsubishi-built Dodge Ram 50.
- Mazda B2000 (1979–1984): Compatible with the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine.
- Mazda B1800 (1977–1978): Fits the 1.8L 4-cylinder engine models.
- Mazda B1600 (1972–1976): Fits the 1.6L 4-cylinder engine models.
Mazda Passenger Cars
In
addition to trucks, certain early Mazda passenger cars utilize this
distributor cap due to shared ignition system designs from that era.
- Mazda 626 (1979–1982): Fits the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine in the first-generation (rear-wheel drive) models.
- Mazda GLC (1977–1980): Compatible with the 1.3L and 1.4L 4-cylinder engines.
- Mazda Mizer (1976–1977): Fits the 1.3L engine models.
