Description
The
"Car Care Parts" AC-8120
(often stylized as AC8120) is a vintage
12-volt, 4-terminal electrical relay that primarily fits
General Motors (GM) cars and trucks from the late 1970s through the late 1980s
.
"Car Care Parts" was an aftermarket replacement brand distributed through major auto parts stores during that era. The
AC-8120
was their direct crossover part for the highly common
GM factory relay #10032082
(and AC Delco equivalent).
What Vehicles Does It Fit?
This relay is highly universal across the GM family. It fits dozens of models from
1978 to 1990
, including:
Chevrolet
: C10/C20/C30/K10 Pickups, Suburban, Blazer, Camaro, Caprice, Corvette, El Camino, Malibu, and Monte Carlo.
GMC
: C1500/C2500 Pickups, Jimmy, and Suburban.
Buick
: Regal, LeSabre, Century, and Electra.
Oldsmobile
: Cutlass Supreme, Delta 88, and 98.
Pontiac
: Firebird, Grand Prix, and Bonneville.
What Does It Control?
Depending on the specific year and model of your vehicle, this exact relay was used interchangeably to power several high-draw systems:
A/C Compressor Clutch Relay
: Engages the air conditioning compressor when you turn on the climate control.
Engine Cooling Fan Relay
: Triggers the electric radiator fan to turn on when the engine gets hot.
HVAC Blower Motor Relay (High Speed)
: Supplies the heavy power required to run the cabin fan on its absolute highest setting.
If you are trying to replace this relay today, you will likely not find the "Car Care Parts" brand on the shelf anymore. However, if you walk into an auto parts store and ask for an
Air Conditioning or Cooling Fan Relay for a 1980s Chevy Truck
, you will get the exact modern equivalent (such as a
Four Seasons 35749
or
Standard Motor Products RY72
)
