Description & Function

Unlike the older two-piece split-block seals, this is a 1-piece full-round radial lip seal. It is constructed out of high-grade fluoroelastomer (Viton) rubber to offer exceptional resistance against intense friction and engine heat. It sits completely around the smooth rear snout of the crankshaft inside a bolt-on aluminum carrier housing. Its sole function is to contain engine oil within the crankcase, preventing it from seeping back into the transmission bellhousing and contaminating the clutch or torque converter.
